In the UK the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has the first ‘fast track’ Health Technology Assessment for a newly licensed drug (or new formulation). The SMC reviews a product’s clinical and cost-effectiveness, and its assessment is used not just by the NHS in Scotland but throughout the UK.
